Him not Her

Okay…admit it guys…you thought the “Him” in the title was you and you were going to get to go first for once, right? Not a chance…the “Him” is Him, not you, and He is first, not her. Say that fast ten times!

Far too often as men (and hopefully leaders of our homes) we think we’re Doctors of Fixology…that we are the “handyman” of life’s challenges. If you truly had one tool to simply fix all the leaks and cracks going on at home, you would use it, right? You have that readily at your disposal in addressing life’s leaks and cracks, but most of the time we try to “fix” things ourselves instead of allowing Him to unfold His tapestry in our lives. God needs to be first choice.

It PLEASES Him for us to allow Him to be our first thought for direction in life no matter how big or small the issue may be. And, as much as we love our brides, He must be FIRST in our lives, not her. When you make that priority decision, God, in His infinite wisdom, will bless your marriage relationship. He will “fix” your marriage to where you are first to each other (in an earthly sense).

Sound magical? Well, it’s no magic, but it IS the manifestation of God’s power in our lives as we give Him our TOTAL trust. Most of us say we trust Him, but do we REALLY? How much do we trust Him? If you answered totally, then LET GO…let Him have the reigns.

In order to do that you must know Him. You get to know someone by spending time with them, talking and walking with them, sharing the challenges and victories, right? Then follow His call to “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Be intentional in spending time with JUST Him so He can guide you, refresh you and mold you into His trusting man. As that transformation takes place you will know and grow in the ability to serve your lovely bride.
